With this highly spectacular artistic lighting intervention, the curtain rises right from the façade of the Gaetano Donizetti Theatre, which comes to life through a cascade of micro-LEDs animating the designs of Pier Luigi Longo. Short animated clips, produced by Cieli Vibranti and Scena Urbana, narrate the theatre, its history and its protagonists in a journey through music, poetry and playfulness. The magic of opera leaves its traditional home to become accessible to all — because today we all have an urgent need for dreams, and an equally urgent duty to keep dreaming....

Pier Luigi Longo
A luminous and hypnotic illustrator, Pier Luigi Longo weaves suggestions and imagery through a range of techniques. Born in Tripoli (Libya) in 1969, he lives and works in Milan. He studied at the European Institute of Design and, since 1993, has worked as a freelance illustrator mainly in publishing, creating covers for major Italian publishing houses and collaborating with outlets such as D. La Repubblica delle Donne, Il Sole 24 Ore, Abitare. His clients include Einaudi, Salani, Rizzoli, Il Saggiatore, Mondadori and HarperCollins.
